Rus Aerobatic squadron

Dave taxiing out

Nathan & Dave flew with the Rus (Pycb) Aerobatic squadron in July 2007

Like the Canadian Snowbirds the Rus Squadron flies a trainer, the Czech built L-39. Thousands of L-39s were built in the Cold War, it was the primary Warsaw Pact jet trainer.

The L-39 is tons of fun to fly.

The Rus Aerobatic Squadron is based at the Vyzhma (Vjazma) airforce base. Vyzhma is home to a DOSAAF (Voluntary Society of Assistance to the Army, the Air Force and the Navy) flight training unit that is the aerobatic squadron’s home. A reserve unit of Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters were also based at Vyzhma. Not pictures in the direction of the helicopters.

Nathan taxing back

Both Dave & Nate had a 30 minute aerobatice flight.
